Course Description - If you’ve ever wondered what shaped our world to date, then it’s time to let History cure that curiosity! We’ll begin by uncovering what really happened during the Waikato Wars of 1863 – 1864, then move on to look at Apartheid in South Africa, and New Zealand’s reaction to it.
Possible Activities - You’ll tackle two internals in creative formats that could include a web page, TV broadcast, secret agent report or a time capsule. You must be prepared to read real library books and study historical footage and documentaries. You’ll then get intensive teaching, practice and ample preparation time to give you the best possible grade in one or two externals.

Recommended Prior LearningCome prepared to be busy and willing to get involved. History involves group activities and discussions, hands on tasks and presenting back to your group. You’ll also be expected to stuck into tough texts, immerse yourself in documentaries and pore over maps. A field trip to the Waikato War Battle Sites is planned for Term 1.
